Try ClamWin or AVG Free!!! I use both and they seem quite the do-gooders. I have to say though, AVG Free is a little bit more annoying- as when it finds a problem it tells you to have a good day and does nothing about it! ClamWin seems a bit more serious, I know a few companies who have switched over to the pro version of it. It all comes down to is preference...XoftSpy and Adaware SE are good ones too!

my preferred antivirus is AVG...had norton but AVG works better...finds more viruses too! dont mean to advertise bdw :P

If they are giving free mean the real time protection was disabled be sure whether they give fully functional or not, better to go for paid version, real time protection is the best one always
