u need a good video card or graphics card along with 512mb ram minimum, do not disable anti virus game will have common virus in them.
Right click on the AVG icon in the taskbar and click on ''guit avg control centre''

But I think its highly unlikely that avg is doing that..It sounds more like your graphics card isn't up to running the game..

Go into start then run and type in dxdiag and try altering the settings..Keep a record of default settings so you can edit them back..
Open the Control Center, double click the Resident Shield and remove the checkmark next to the Turn on AVG Resident Shield. WARNING, any program that asks you to disable AV is HIGHLY suspicious,and will probably infect you.
