An effective AntiVirus program for the Windows Architecture is Grisoft's AVG AV. For a free program it does a remarkable job with resident shield and other features. I would also recommend using Firefox as a browser (if you are already not). Due to the security vulnerabilities in Interent Explorer which allow malware to be executed without your knowledge (until it's too late). You should also have a spyware/adware shield such as Spybot search and destroy or equivalent. I recomend not using Windows Internal Firewall software (which is almost totally useless). Use a commerical firewall software such as Black ICE with IDS, or McaFee.
