Microsoft also has an anti-spyware beta you can try.

http://www.stopbadware.org/ is a website created by Google, Sun, and a computer manufacturer to educate people on spyware and adware, it has great links to resources such as antispy software.
For spyware and adware I would recommend AdAware or Spybot, both of which are free programs. I use both because some things are caught by one but missed by the other.

Worms are generally protected against with virus protection software, so this is another category. I use Norton which am very happy with. Norton is not free however. For an open source antivirus program, try ClamWin:
