I dont think there are free anti virus programs. Most of them come with a 30 day free trial. If you know someone in IT who can do you this favor may work.

Whichever program you decide to use, once you've downloaded and installed it, check for the latest updates and perform a full system scan. Doing this at least once a week, will minimise the risk of viruses etc.
